Your Next Customer Just Asked AI About Your Business. Do You Know What It Said?

Not long ago, most new customers found a local business through Google or a recommendation from someone they trusted.

That’s starting to change.

People are now asking ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google questions like:

“Who’s a reliable HVAC company near Tulsa?”

“Who’s the best bookkeeper for a small construction business in Oklahoma?”

The businesses included in those answers often become the customer’s short list.

The question is: Does your business show up? And if it does, is the information accurate?

Being on Google isn’t the same as being understood

You may have a solid website, a Facebook page, and a Google Business Profile. That doesn’t necessarily mean AI tools have a clear picture of your business.

They pull information from many places, including your website, business listings, directories, reviews, and other mentions across the web. If those sources don’t agree, problems start to appear.

Maybe an old directory still has your previous phone number. Another site lists the wrong hours. Your services are described one way on your website and another way on your Google profile.

To a potential customer, those might look like small mistakes. To a search engine or AI tool, they create uncertainty. When the information isn’t clear, your business may be left out in favor of a competitor whose information is easier to understand.

That means a business with fifteen years of excellent work can be overlooked while a newer competitor gets mentioned simply because its online information is more complete and consistent.

How do you find out where you stand?

At Edge IQ Consulting, we start by looking at what customers and AI tools can actually find.

First, we assess how your business appears across Google, maps, directories, and AI answer tools. Then we explain what we found in plain English and identify what should be addressed first.

From there, we help correct inconsistent business details, fill important information gaps, and improve the signals that help search and AI tools understand who you are, what you do, and where you operate.

We can also continue monitoring those results because they don’t stay still. Search platforms change, AI tools change, and business information changes.

We won’t promise that you’ll reach a particular ranking or that ChatGPT will always recommend you. Nobody can honestly guarantee that.

What we can do is show you what’s happening now, help correct the problems we find, and give you clear reporting so you aren’t left guessing.

Try this for yourself

Open ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Google and ask the kind of question one of your customers might ask.

Ask for the best businesses in your field and location. Then look closely at the answer.

Is your business included?

If it is, are the details correct?

If you don’t like what you find, don’t panic. Treat it as a starting point. This is a new problem for many businesses, especially owner-led companies that have spent years building a good reputation but haven’t had time to organize every piece of information about themselves online.

That’s exactly the kind of problem we help businesses across Oklahoma and beyond work through.
